Stroke refers to a cerebrovascular accident which actually occurs when the supply of blood to a part of brain gets disrupted. Moreover, when the inflow of blood into the brain is disturbed both glucose and oxygen cannot get transferred to the brain.
However, the inflow of blood can be caused due to variety of reasons and as such stroke also occurs due to many reasons such as:
. Blockage of an artery
. Embolic stroke
. Cerebral hemorrhage
. Subarachnoid hemorrhage
. Vasculitis
. Migraine headache.
Vaginosis
Vaginosis is often caused by the death of a certain kind of bacteria that help to balance the production of bacteria in the vagina. The death of these bacteria is a result of douching, or caused by certain products which are used to reduce pain during sexual intercourse.
Bacterial infection
a) Vaginitis
Vaginitis causes low levels of estrogen which increase the risk of allergic reaction, leading to abnormal vaginal discharge. In some severe cases, it causes adhesion in the pelvic region or tubal blockage.
b) Ureaplasma urealyticum
Ureaplasia urealyticum is a type of bacterial infection with no symptoms. It is sexually transmitted between partners, leading to tubal disease, decreasing sperm quality if it is not treated.
The prevention of diphtheria is through vaccination. The vaccination schedule is the same as for tetanus (see previous article). Immunity does wane after a period of time and re-vaccination should be done at least every 10 years.
Though now a rare disease in the United States, foreign travel is still a risk factor for Americans and up to date vaccination is critical in preventing this disease.
